Halfway Reflection

Tenaciousness is a competency
It's very easy to get sidetracked in something as rule-free as being an entrepreneur, since you get to make the decisions and there really are no steps to follow since this is an individualized case-by-case basis approach to success. However, you have to stay on track and have somewhat of a plan assigned, and checkpoints with dated deadlines to keep you moving progressively forward in a timely manner. Without record, it'll be easy to fool yourself into lying that you're getting something done when really you're jogging in place.

Tenaciousness is also about attitude
Don't think for a second that giving up didn't cross my mind at least once after the first few rejections. I mean, it'd be so easy and safe to just rely on my fallback option (which is what I'm actually going to school for, so technically I should consider it my main career track) if I began to doubt whether this writing thing was going to take off. I'd love to provide some sort of reassurance by stating some kind of happy firsthand result to prove that dreams pay off, but I'll tell you this instead--just like I'm telling myself right now: don't give up.

Three tips
1) Future students of this class: just know that you've got to develop tenacity and an unrelenting drive to succeed if you ever hope to put yourself out there, roll with the punches, and grab the success you feel entitled to deserve. 2) Just do exactly what you're doing in these assignments and remind yourself over and over in your worth and that of your personal brand and product. Remind yourself what you have to offer that everyone needs, and what you have that the competition doesn't. 3) Honestly, when it comes to being confident in yourself and your vision... fake it 'till ya make it. If you act confident enough, it'll grow on you. There's going to be trials that test your devotion to your idea to see if you're as committed to your idea. Trust yourself. It might start off as pretend until you really embody it.

  1. I can definitely relate to wanting to give up at some point or another in this class. There was a week that I was so overwhelmed with assignments in this class and my other ones, I felt like I would not be able to go another week. However, here we are, halfway through the class. I encourage you to keep pushing forward with your writing- I am very interested to read what you have come up with when it comes to reading material for young adults!

Fake it til ya make it is my mantra! We can love our entrepreneurship projects like children, but most of us haven't found the confidence to completely believe they're destined to be successful just yet. When presenting your idea to others, though, coming off like your product is a secret they've been missing out on is essential to gaining interest.
